Clicker Duck Easter Egg

Your first encounter with the Clicker duck will have it being seemingly textureless. If you try to make it quack you will hear clicking sound and digits next to the duck spawn meter will start appearing; this is how many times you have clicked so far, as shown below.

This is how the Clicker duck initially looks like. It is completely unassuming, no? However, as you’ll find out, this is quite a complex and interesting duck!

After 18 clicks, something changes – the duck becomes bright green with white 18s all over it. Makes sense, as there were 18 clicks. But let’s see what happens if you continue clicking…

Now, 36 clicks in, and the next change occurs: gone is the bright green coat, replaced by what looks like bits of binary data streaming down it. Quite a Matrix-like look!

However, the hacker-like design doesn’t last very long, as the duck changes its appearance again once you reach 72 clicks! No more numbers… now, it appears to be some sort of corroded metal, probably oxidised copper.
Poor duck, its copper hasn’t been coated to protect it from air and water!

At this point, you might be noticing a pattern. Indeed, this duck changes its appearance every time the number of clicks doubles; so, the next change is due to happen at 144 clicks.
And just like clockwork, the change does happen after 144 clicks! It’s a fun one this time – the design might remind you of the Card Duck or the Card Two Duck, as it’s card themed as well. All 4 suites are represented… you could say it’s got a full house!

Moving on from cards, and many clicks later, and a new form appears! After 288 clicks, it becomes soaked in water! Covered in little water droplets all over, and with a lovely blue colour to match! Like a window on a rainy day!

So on you go, clicking and clicking… and it suddenly becomes a golf ball after 576 clicks! No decorations or anything, just a duck
with the texture of a golf ball. Perhaps it want to go golfing and score a birdie – or an albatross!

1152 clicks later and the design changes completely! Gone is the pure white of the golf ball, now it’s replaced by a colourful metallic cross-weave pattern. It looks like when people recycle old metal/paper and make bags out of it!
This is certainly one of the more colourful design yet, but this isn’t the end – so keep on clicking!

Oh? Wait… something happens sooner than you’d expect. You would probably expect the next change to occur at 2304 clicks, but there’s a brief flash – glitch, even – at precisely 1708 clicks. This is very easy to miss, so click slowly once you approach 1700 clicks. Now, what do we have here? The duck is completely black, almost like it’s missing textures. But its eyes are bulbous and blue… hmm, remind you of anyone? Also, the number of clicks matches the date when that missing duck disappeared (Aug 17th)… very interesting, indeed!

After that brief intermission, the duck goes back to the metallic cross-weave pattern, staying with it until you hit the expected number of clicks, which is 2304 clicks.
Oh, now you’ve scored the jackpot! This duck is worth a billion money! What kind of money? Who knows, but it sure is a treasure, to be sure!

Sadly, the billion-moneys-worth duck is not the last change of appearance… you’ll have to wave goodbye to the billion moneys as you near 4608 clicks and the new change occurs.
Uh… it appears that there has been an error. Error – fail? Something may be malfunctioning within the duck… best way to fix this is to… just keep clicking! Surely, this will lead to the duck restarting, or…

… or it may just turn into a banana! That’s right – 9216 clicks later and you’ve got yourself a real, legit banana! Not even in the shape of a duck, just a banana. Well, you do know what they say: bananas are full of potassium, after all! So this is a good treat after an arduous 9216 clicks.

Why a banana? It is likely that this is an Easter egg to the (infamous) Steam game called Banana, which is a clicker game in which you click on a banana over and over. So now, until you reload the save, the Clicker duck will stay a banana (and may interact with a certain juicy duck…).
