Using Linux Guide + Steam Deck

Getting Started

This is not a fool proof guide to getting the game to play on Linux or the Steam Deck. There may be other issues not described here, let us know so we can update it.

Game is not opening on Linux!?

Make sure you have enabled Proton.
Press gear icon on the game page, then properties.

Then once in that new menu, on the left press Compatibility (Shown below)

This should be everything to get the game running if you are still having issues continue to the next section.

Still having an issue loading the game?

You might be able to get it to work with different versions of Proton. You can either try another version of Proton at random by clicking the drop down menu (newer versions usually work better), or you can go to https://www.protondb.com/app/1999360?device=any (3rd party site) and look for your Distro (listed on the right) and see what version of Proton was used

“Failed to initialize graphics” error

Make sure your graphics card drivers are updated, and if that doesn’t work, follow these steps.
Go to the game properties, as shown in the first images at the top of this page, paste this text into the box labelled “Launch Options” PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

NOTE: This can have some weird side effects, so use this only as a last resort.

Screenshot save location

On Steam Deck specifically they are in “/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1999360/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Pictures/Placid Plastic Duck Simulator/”

Otherwise they should be in your Steam folder, then in “./steamapps/compatdata/1999360/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Pictures/Placid Plastic Duck Simulator/”
